In
Fall 2001, iTelehealth, Inc., a Frederick, Maryland-based
company whose mission is to serve as a multiple - industry
connector to promote the use of Telehealth & the
Internet for healthcare related services, was awarded
project funding from the National Institutes of Mental
Health (NIMH) (SBIR Contract #N44MH22044) to design
a national suicide prevention Web site. The site was
titled “The Preventing Suicide Network” or PSN.
The mission
of Preventing Suicide Network is to leverage the power of
technology to assist persons in informing themselves and others
regarding preventing suicide. We dedicate our efforts in hopes
that someone’s life may be spared this tragic event by a helper
reaching out.

& Team
The
Preventing Suicide Network was developed with the support
of the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) of the
National Institute of Health (NIH) under SBIR Contract #N44MH22044,
in collaboration with clinical and technical experts from
iTelehealth, Inc. & Consortium Research Management Inc.,
clinical experts from the American Association of Suicidology,
ancillary experts in the areas of systems architecture and
library science and, most importantly, those who had firsthand
experience with suicide of their loved ones and friends.
