While there are many myths surrounding suicidal behavior, current research and a better understanding of how to recognize and treat suicidal behavior has revealed a number of well-established facts. The facts described here are broad and will help to begin to enhance your knowledge in the subject of suicide.

FACT #1

The World Health Organization projects that one million people will die by suicide this year (Reference 1).

FACT #2

In the United States, more than 29,000 people die by suicide every year (Reference 2).
