National Education Association Health Information Network (NEAHIN)

 

The NEAHIN is a not-for-profit health affiliate of the National Education Association, and provides health information to 2.7 million educational employees and the more than thirty million students it serves.

National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center (NYVPRC)

 

The NYVPRC is a not-for-profit organization whose sponsoring organizations are the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as numerous other federal agencies in the United States.   The NYVPRC is a central source of federal information on prevention and intervention programs, publications, research, and statistics on violence committed by and against children and teens.

Public Broadcasting Service (PBS)

 

PBS is a private not-for-profit media enterprise owned and operated by the nation's 349 public television stations. PBS uses the power of noncommercial television, the Internet and other media to enrich the lives of all Americans through quality programs and education services that inform, inspire, and delight.

 

The PBS Web site provides a series of lesson plans titled Suicide Prevention for grades 7-12. Students will explore important facts about suicide prevention, including warning signs, high-risk groups, myths and facts, and ways to help a friend.   The Suicide Prevention lesson plans are available at the following Web address:

Youth Suicide Prevention Education Program (YSPEP)

 

The YSPEP was developed by parents who lost a child to suicide and who developed this organization to prevent suicide among adolescents and young adults by providing information and resources to youth, parents and the community.
