What education is available for AOD counselors

Introduction

AOD counselors work in many different environments, like schools, hospitals, occupational health care settings, community mental health facilities, not for profit organizations, and clinics.   Consequently, AOD counselors have unique roles and numerous opportunities for working with individuals who are actively suicidal, contemplating suicide, or having suicidal thoughts.

The numerous and diverse roles held by AOD counselors require the ability to find educational resources that are specific to your needs quickly.

AOD counselors have a chance to distribute suicide prevention education and information in an effort to increase understanding, decrease the stigma of discussing suicide and mental health needs, and advocate for further suicide prevention education within the community, state, country, and world.

This Web site can help AOD counselors when you are unable to find the suicide prevention information and resources that you need within your community.
