Members of the media can make a difference in suicide prevention efforts. Reporting on suicide appropriately with a conscious effort to remember survivors of suicide and the potential impact of the news story on other people who may be at risk for suicide can positively impact suicide prevention efforts.

topic of suicide and mental illness is beginning to enter
in to popular discourse. Members of the media can continue
this trend by offering additional information about
suicide and mental illness that is supported by research
and promotes increased awareness. The media can help
