The AACAP is advertised to be the leading national professional medical association dedicated to treating and improving the quality of life for children, adolescents, and families affected by mental, behavioral, or developmental disorders. The AACAP offers education, advocacy efforts, practice guidelines and systems of care, collaboration with other medical and mental health organizations, as well as promotion and support for research and training opportunities to accomplish its mission.
